Well known Kamloops thief lands in jail

A Kamloops man is being held in jail awaiting a bail hearing after being busted for breaking into a business early this morning.

Officers were called at about 4:45 a.m. today, Dec. 7, when a security alarm went off at a business in the 700 block of Sydney Avenue. RCMP don't identify the business.

Police found there had been a break-in with cash and electronics stolen.

The thief had fled by the time officers arrived but his image had been recorded on surveillance cameras.

“Later that morning, around 7:15 a.m., a police officer attended a location on Tranquille Road in search of the suspect,” Kamloops RCMP media relations officer, Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “The officer not only located a suspect, but also recovered the electronics, cash, and other evidence related to the investigation.”

The suspect is well known to RCMP.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-43385.
