Well above normal temperatures forecast for Okanagan this week

KELOWNA - Some sunny, some unsettled and some warm weather is in the Okanagan forecast this week.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says temperatures will stay on the mild side through Saturday, but an upper level low will bring unsettled conditions to the region starting Wednesday, with the strongest chance of showers expected on Thursday.

Okanagan residents can expect sunny skies today, May 27, with a high of 28 Celsius and an overnight low of 6 C.

Tomorrow the mercury is expected to climb to 29 C under sunny skies, with an overnight low of 14 C. The daytime high could reach 30 C in Penticton.

Showers are expected to creep into the weather mix on Wednesday, with a mix of sun and cloud forecast along with a 30 per cent chance of showers through the day and overnight. Wednesday’s high is expected to reach 27 C, with an overnight low of 13 C.

More showers are predicted Thursday, with a 60 per cent chance throughout the day, decreasing to a 30 per cent risk overnight. A high of 27 C and a low of 13 C is forecast.

On Friday, the skies are expected to clear a bit, with a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 per cent chance of showers. Friday’s high is expected to reach 27 C, with a low of 13 C

Normal temperatures at this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of around 21 C and lows of approximately 8 C.
