Special Events and Seasonal Programs:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops
Bowl for Kids’ Sake Volunteer- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops is looking for volunteers to assist with their Bowl For Kids’ Sake event held from March 3-6, 2017 at Bowlertime and Falcon Lanes bowling alley. Volunteers will help out with the staff at bowling events, run games, the raffle, and various other duties. All ages are welcome to volunteer. Beattie Elementary
Basketball Referee - Beattie Elementary school is looking for volunteers to referee elementary basketball games. The games take place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:30pm. Canadian Mental Health
Run Don’t Hide – Ending the Stigma Around Mental Illness – Volunteers who have a good work ethic, integrity, and the ability to work independently or with others are wanted for the Ride Don’t Hide event, held on Sunday, June 25th. People from the community that see the value of speaking up around mental illness and help break the stigma while raising important dollars for community education programing at the CMHA Clubhouse are wanted. Each position requires something different. Please call 250-374-0440 ext 101 if you think you would be a good fit.

Oncore Seniors Society
Snow Angels Volunteers- Oncore Seniors Society needs volunteers in all areas of our community to shovel snow for seniors registered through our program. Each time a Snow Angel shovels they will receive a coupon from Dominos for a free pizza.  Volunteers have a 24 hour window to shovel only the driveway and front sidewalk. Free Office Phones- Volunteer Kamloops has recently had a donation of RCA office phones that are available for anyone to pick up. The phones have 4 lines, and are gently used-only 2 years old. If any businesses need phones for the office, feel free to give us a call at 250-372-8313.

Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association
Office Cleaner – Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association is looking for office volunteers to keep the dust bunnies away. If you love to clean and have an hour to spare every second week please call 250-554-3811.

Salvation Army
Family Fun Night Volunteers - The Salvation Army is in need of enthusiastic volunteers to help out with meals, games, and activities for our Friday evening Family Fun Nights from 5pm-7pm. Duties: food prep, set-up/take down, games, crafts and other engaging activities with the families. A police information check including the vulnerable sector check is required. 19+ to volunteer. Canadian Mental Health
Volunteer Sewing Instructor – A volunteer is needed to co-facilitate a sewing class alongside the main instructor every Tuesday from 9:00-3:00pm. Volunteers will be able to teach members of the class basic sewing skills, operate sewing machines, and develop quality products. They must possess strong communication and facilitation skills, and be able to work with a diverse population. Volunteers should be 19+ and will be supporting new and existing members of the CMHA Quilting program. For more information, please call 250-374-0440 ext. 106.

Recreation Volunteers - Volunteers are needed to help during the day - Monday - Friday and some weekend programs. Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of recreational programs including: Crib, Board Games, Bingo, Sing-a-longs, Dancing, Crafts, Outdoor Walks, Special Events or 1-to-1 visits. Volunteers will also assist in transporting the residents in wheelchairs to the programs, and assist the staff with serving refreshments, and with the programs. Volunteers are especially needed to help with Bingo on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 pm, and on Fridays for their Happy Hour from 2-4 pm. The Volunteers will be reliable, responsible, have good communications skills, be punctual, and be able to physically push a wheelchair. 17+ to volunteer. Board Members - This is new opportunity for a spirited and innovative person to contribute to a non-profit that is part of the backbone of this community.
