Weekend temperatures are expected to dip in Kamloops

Enjoy Kamloops' sunny skies and warm temperatures today, as Environment Canada is calling for a modified arctic front to pass over the region tomorrow, dropping temperatures for the weekend in its wake.

Kamloops residents can look forward to a mostly pleasant Easter holiday weekend, although temperatures are expected to drop off to below seasonal norms on Saturday and Sunday.

Environment Canada says to expect a mostly sunny day today with a high reaching 20 Celsius.

That’s a comfortable temperature for this time of year, but Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says it won’t likely break high-temperature records in the city.

“We’re not really close to records, we would have to get above 22 C to see that,” he says.

Lundquist says tomorrow will see a modified arctic front pass over the city sometime in the afternoon, bringing a drop in temperatures for Saturday and Sunday.

It’s not quite as spring-like back east, where in Ontario, the Weather Network says parts of southern Ontario could see 3 to 5 cm of snow tomorrow. with a late weekend storm on the way that could bring heavy snow to northern parts of the province and rain and strong winds to the south on Sunday and Monday.

Kamloops could see a chance of showers on Good Friday, at 30 per cent during the day and 40 per cent through the night, along with a sun and cloud mix and a high of 15 C.

Mostly sunny skies return for Saturday and Sunday, but it will be cool, with daytime highs only reaching 11 C both days.

Normal Kamloops high and low temperature for this time of year is 16 C and 2 C.

It should begin warming up again on Easter Monday, with sunny skies continuing into the middle of next week.

Monday’s high of 17 C is expected to rise to a high of 19 C by Wednesday.
