Weapons threat at Kamloops recreation centre

There's a large police presence at the Kamloops recreation centre this afternoon after someone made threats with a weapon.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a report about a person allegedly threatening someone with a weapon inside the recreation centre in the 900-block of McGill Road around 11:30 a.m. today, June 10, according to a press release from police.

The people involved know each other and there were no reported injuries.

Police didn't say what type of weapon was used to make the threat, if any arrests were made or if anyone is facing charges.

RCMP ask the public to avoid the area while officers respond.

Any witnesses or people with information related to the incident are asked to contact Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2024-17834.
