LAKE COUNTRY - All Lake Country residents, and over 100 Kelowna utility customers, who get their water from Okanagan Lake are being told to boil their water before drinking it.

A water main break near Glenmore Road and Okanagan Centre Road earlier today, May 23, triggered the boil water notices in the two communities.

“Water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute,” states a news release from the District of Lake Country. “Boiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container.”

The City of Kelowna says in a media release around 100 customers along the city's northern boundary are also impacted. The City says the water source is being switch from Okanagan Lake to Beaver Lake so people in the affected area may experience intermittent water flow and high turbidity.
