KAMLOOPS - While locals get to see the Thompson region all the time, it’ll be showing up on the big and small screen a few times this year.

Power Rangers is likely the largest film featuring Kamloops this year.

In the most recent trailer, released today, the city shows up a few times, with Zack’s Coffee on 4 Avenue and Victoria Street nearly getting obliterated at the 1:38 minute mark followed by extras sprinting down Seymour Street.

The film shot in Kamloops last year.

There’s also Monster Trucks, the big budget family adventure film out now.

With parts shot around the region, including Ashcroft, locals might recognize the location of a few shots in the trailer.

Tomato Red, based on a novel by the same writer as Winter’s Bone, also shot plenty in the Thompson and Nicola area.

The trailer features plenty of landscapes people will recognize and a well known mural from Merritt’s Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.

Historical series 1491: The Untold Story of the Americas Before Christopher Columbus will be debuting on APTn this year.

It tells the story of Aboriginal people in North America before European contact, and was shot in the Kamloops, Stump Lake and Merritt areas, according to a press release from the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission.
