WEST KELOWNA - The West Kelowna Warriors Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club has acquired forward Logan Mostat (’97) and future considerations from the Surrey Eagles in exchange for goaltender Keelan Williams (’96).
Mostat, 19, is in his second season with the Eagles with 11 goals and 24 points in31 games so far in the 2016/17 season to go along with 21 penalty minutes. Over his BCHL career with Surrey and affiliating with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, Mostat has played in 59 games with 15 goals and 33 points plus 33 penalty minutes.
The Salmon Arm, BC native was signed midway through the 2015/16 season by the Eagles after a successful run in the KIJHL, earning 41 goals and 76 points in 121 games in Junior ‘B’ also adding 266 penalty minutes in that span with the North Okanagan Knights and the Chase Heat.
“With three goaltenders, we had to make a move,” stated Warriors general manager and head coach Rylan Ferster, “Getting an offensive 19-year-old with a year and half of junior hockey left made good sense.”
Williams, 20, has yet to play a game this season while battling back from an injury and spending time on the injured reserve. In 22 games played during the regular season last year, Williams compiled a 13-6 record with a 3.38 GAA and a .893 SV% after being signed midway through the season after his release from the Western Hockey League.
The Calgary, Alberta native played a key part in the Warriors championship run, playing in 13 games split between the BCHL playoffs, Western Canada Cup and the Royal Bank Cup. Williams earned a 2.27 GAA and an impressive .931 SV% in relief of injured goaltender Matthew Greenfield.
The Warriors would like to thank Keelan for his time and contributions to the Warriors and the city of West Kelowna and would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavors in Surrey. The Warriors would also like to welcome Logan to the city of West Kelowna.
The Warriors start a three-game home stand Saturday night when they host the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM with tickets available at the Warriors office and by calling Kim at (250) 769-7051.
