Warmer weekend ahead for Kamloops and the Okanagan

The latest cold snap in Kamloops and the Okanagan brought overnight low temperatures of -10 to -12 Celsius earlier this week.

But that is over and, according to Environment Canada’s online forecast, the lows in Kamloops will creep above freezing on the weekend with high a temperature of 11 C on Saturday and 12 C  into next week.

Today, March 7, should be sunny with a high of 4 C in Kamloops rising to 8 C Friday with a chance of a few flurries overnight.

The skies are forecast to be mostly cloudy through the weekend with a 60% chance of rain showers or flurries on Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures will be cooler in the Okanagan with Vernon and Kamloops expecting a high of 5 C today, rising to 6 C on Friday and Saturday and up to 10 C by Wednesday.

Sunny skies today are forecast to turn cloudy tonight with a 30% chance of flurries, turning to rain showers on Friday.

Overnight lows will range from -3 C tonight to 2 C next week.

The chance of flurries or showers will rise to 60-70% on the weekend. Periods of snow are forecast for overnight Saturday with a low of -1 C.

The high for Penticton is forecast for 6 C today and 8 C on Friday. For the longer range, after two days, Environment Canada just gives Penticton the same forecast as Kelowna and Vernon.
