It's an opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause and hopefully win two tickets for an all expenses-paid weekend in New York.

This year's IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s takes place in cities across the Thompson-Okanagan May 5, and organizers are giving participants extra incentive to fundraise hard. Between now and 11:59 p.m. May 5, for every $100 raised by a participant they will receive an entry into a draw to win return flights for two to New York City, plus $1,000 spending money.

The walks are taking place Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton, as well as 17 other cities in B.C. The walks start late morning and lunchtime, and participants can walk as far as they want in the given time.

"The walk is a powerful way for people to come together to reduce the stigma of dementia in their communities and ensure people living with dementia are supported, included and acknowledged," Alzheimer Society of B.C. chief executive officer Maria Howard said in the release.
