VERNON - The Vernon Vipers have two new players to freshen the roster after a four player trade with the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Vipers acquired 18-year-old defenceman Mitch Meek and 20-year-old defenceman Brandon Egli in exchange for defenceman Jake Emilio and forward Ayden MacDonald. The deal is also open for future considerations.

Egli and Meek are veterans of the BCHL appearing in 211 games combined. When the deal was made, Meek, who is from Victoria, was in his third season with Victoria, recording one goal and one assist in six games. He is committed to Clarkson for the 2015-16 season.

Egli is a junior, coming out of his most productive year so far with 11 goals and 35 points last season for the Grizzlies. He appeared in two games this season following his return from the USHL and is committed to the University of Massachuesetts for next season.

Macdonald and Emilio were in their first seasos with the BCHL. Emilio (20) registered one assist in seven games after joining the Vipers in the off-season from the OJHL. Macdonald (18), from Langley, was in his rookie campaign and appeared in five games but didn't record a point.

Head Coach Marker Ferner said in a media release letting the two go was not an easy decision.

"Both Jake and Ayden are quality people and it makes the move difficult however this is a trade that gives us a couple more veteran bodies on the back end and really imporves our depth."

Egli and Meek are expected to make their Vernon debut on Friday night when the Vipers host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at 7 p.m. at Kal Tire Place.
