Residents out enjoying the summer in the Okanagan and Kamloops might see a bubble blower in city parks this month making massive bubbles and drawing in crowds.

Dave Wilson from Victoria is touring through this summer to spread joy through bubble making.

“Life lately for a lot of people isn’t as joyous as it could be so I’m just trying to fill in that gap and all it costs is some time,” Wilson said. “It’s a form of meditation, it’s a fun activity that takes on a life of its own.”

Wilson, who goes by the name That Bubble Guy, has been at City Park in Kelowna this week and said his bubbles are attracting crowds of all ages. When conditions are just right, he said he can make bubbles up to 50-feet long.

“In the evening, in a cool environment, I can make a bubble beside a fire truck and it looks like the truck is inside the bubble,” he said.

Wilson has perfected a bubble formula he brings along with him in case other future bubble makers want to buy some and join in the fun.

“I spent time working on perfecting it through trial and error and finding the best ingredients. It’s environmentally friendly and edible although I don’t recommend eating it,” he said.

Wilson was busy making bubbles at City Park earlier this week but had to shut down early in the afternoon to avoid heat exhaustion. He'll be in Vernon July 10, and then it's on to Enderby, Armstrong and Kamloops, and he's planning to return to Kelowna next month.

Go here to follow Wilson and find out when he will be in your city spreading bubble joy.
