Victim of Penticton shooting in hospital in serious condition

A shooting over the weekend in Penticton sent a 21-year-old man to hospital in serious condition.

Officers were called to reports of a shooting at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, near the 100 block of Green Mountain Road in Penticton, according to an RCMP media release.

A 21-year-old male from Surrey was the only victim and RCMP said the man remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

With the available evidence, RCMP believe this was a targeted incident and public safety is not at risk.

“Given the time of day and the location, it is fortunate no other people were injured during this incident,” Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett said in the release.

Police are seeking dash cam footage or witness testimony from anyone who was on Green Mountain Road or at the Super Save Gas Station between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The investigation is still ongoing and RCMP said no further information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300. Witnesses can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leaving a tip online at www.bccrimestoppers.com. Anyone that provides information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward.
