PENTICTON - A Penticton delivery man making a late night call to a Westminster Avenue residence was seriously assaulted yesterday.

Police were called to Penticton Regional Hospital around 1 a.m. this morning, Dec. 15, after receiving a call of a 35-year-old man suffering serious lacerations to his hands and face from an assault.

While making a late night pizza delivery to the residence on Westminister Avenue, the customer attacked the delivery man with a box cutter. He managed to fend off the attacker before driving himself to hospital.

Police attended the address and took a 27-year-old man into custody. A search warrant was issued for the residence and police are continuing their investigation. It is not believed the two knew each other prior to the incident.

The accused faces a court date tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 16.

The delivery man received stitches and has since been released from the hospital.
