Vernon's Shanda Hill takes on the Triple Deca Ultra Triathlon in Italy

World renowned ultra endurance athlete Shanda Hill from Vernon is set to travel to Italy and take part in her first Triple Deca Ultra Triathlon.

On Sept. 1, Hill will enter th most elite and strenuous race she has taken part in so far. The race begins with a 114 kilometre swim, followed by a 5400 km bike ride and then finishes with a 1266 km run, all taking place through Lake Garda in Italy. This will be the longest triathlon course of the International Ultra Triathlon Association attempted in human history.

“Shanda Hill's journey to Italy is the culmination of years of relentless perseverance, unyielding determination and a passion for pushing the limits of what the human body and spirit can achieve. Known for her incredible stamina and mental fortitude, Hill is no stranger to ultra-triathlons' rigours,” a release said. 

The race will host 15 participants from around the world to take part, competing in a demanding race.

Hill is already noted to be the first person to complete three Double Deca triathlons, while also having completed the Bretzel Ultra Tri Quintuple in France, with her finish time being 106 hours and 44 minutes.

"The Triple Deca is a dream come true for me, and I can't wait to give it everything I've got," Hill said in the release.

Hill will travel from Vancouver International Airport to Lake Garda in Italy on Aug. 26, six days before the race.

Hill has fans who eagerly watch as she completes any challenge she takes on. 

Hill has previously taken part in a multitude of athletic competitions and sets do her best in every race she participates in as she pushes her endurance and athletic abilities to the max.

The race time limit is 1,080 hours.
