Vernon's Davison Orchards reopens for season this week

Davison Orchards opens for the season on Friday, May 1, 2020.

Davison Orchards in Vernon is reopening for a new season — under unprecedented circumstances.

This year's opening on Friday, May 1, will look a little different than usual due to the current pandemic.

“These days are challenging for all of us,” Laura Shaw, a fourth generation Davison, said in a press release. “It’s hard to not be sharing our orchard in our usual way. However, it is a privilege to be farmers and to provide wholesome food from our fields and also from our bakery and cannery."

The Davison family is looking forward to opening the animal area, playground and café once it is safe to do so.

In the meantime, they are excited to bring the community their farm fresh produce in a time of need.

Customers shopping at the market can expect hundreds of jars of jams, salsas, chutneys, pepper jellies and more. This year the cannery is introducing three new preserves, Ginger Peach Jam, Plum Chutney and Raspberry Chipotle Sauce.

The bakery will be selling fresh pies and homestyle meals as usual.

The gift shop will be also be open, with the option of ordering products online for pick-up.

Davison Orchards will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
