Vernon's Creative Chaos set to return after COVID hiatus

It's a sign that life is getting back to normal, as two hugely popular shopping events return to Vernon this spring and summer.

Both Creative Chaos and Shoparama will be back this year at the Greater Vernon Recreation Centre, after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. This past weekend saw the return of the Spring Home Show at the local arena.

Shoparama is up first and starts this Saturday with what it calls a "budding bunch" of entrepreneurs, crafters, bakers and home-based businesses peddling their wares throughout the weekend April 2 and 3 at the rec centre. The event will take up two full rooms at the complex. Admission is free but attendees are encouraged to support the Farmers' Market Nutrition Coupon Program and Food Bank with a donation.

In June, shoppers will have the opportunity to attend the 45th annual Creative Chaos Craft Show.

Dubbed the largest summer craft show in Western Canada, the event started in 1971 as a two-day art exhibition of porcelain and ceramics and was held in the Vernon rec centre's auditorium.

From there it expanded and now attracts hundreds of artisans to the three-day event. There will also be live music and entertainment.

Creative Chaos takes place June 3, 4, and 5, also at the Greater Vernon Recreation Centre.
