A Vernon teenager that flew to the U.K. to meet her new boyfriend has been found dead.

Media in the U.K. is reporting that 19-year-old Vernon resident Ashley Wadsworth was found dead in an apartment in Chelmsford, about 60 kilometres east of London.

The teenager was stabbed to death, according to a Mirror newspaper report.

Essex Police say they have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

The Sun newspaper identifies the man as Jack Sepple, who Wadsworth had met online and travelled to the U.K. to meet.

An Essex Police media release says it was called to a disturbance in Chelmsford at 4 p.m. Feb. 1.

"Sadly, despite the efforts of paramedics, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene," the release says.

According to The Sun, Wadsworth had travelled to England recently and was set to return back to Canada in a few days.

U.K police have said they are not looking for any other suspects in regards to Wadsworth's death.
