When Teki arrived at the Vernon SPCA, she needed surgery to remove two painful lumps and treatment for severe dental disease.

Teki, 12, suffered years of neglect that resulted in the need for surgery to remove the lumps as well as oral surgery, the Vernon SPCA said in a media release. She was underweight and her ribs were visible through her dull and oily coat.

She is on the road to recovery and is slowly gaining weight and recovering her strength, but the BC SPCA’s Vernon and District Branch is looking for help to cover Teki’s medical costs.

“We need to raise funds for Teki and the many other senior animals that end up in shelters in their twilight years,” said manager Chelsea Taylor in the release.

The ultimate goal, however, is adoption.

“Teki loves people and gets along well with other dogs. She is a very laid-back girl who loves nothing more than to fall asleep on the couch in front of a warm fire,” said Taylor. “Teki is such a sweetie and deserves an awesome retirement home.”
