This fall, Vernon residents will be asked to vote to allow the city to borrow $121 million to develop a new active living centre.

Eligible Vernon voters will head to the polls Oct. 15 to decide on the new active living centre – a new multi-purpose indoor recreation facility currently being proposed in the city.

If approved, the facility will include: a double gymnasium with multiple sport courts, an 80-station fitness centre, a 150 metre synthetic walking/running track and multi-purpose activity and program spaces, according to the city in a press release.

The proposed aquatic centre will include: a 50 by eight metre lane pool with two movable bulkheads, spring diving boards, a leisure pool with play features, accessible entry, and three by 25 m lanes, a steam room and sauna, hot tub, viewing deck and pool support areas.

More information on the centre can be found on the city's website.
