Vernon RCMP make three arrests related to local drug trade

VERNON - Police in Vernon say they are continuing to crack down on drug dealers.

As part of an ongoing effort to target street level dealers, police made three arrests earlier this month.

On July 11, a 35-year-old Vernon man was arrested on a warrant for three counts of drug trafficking, police say in a media release.

The man had numerous small bags of a suspected heroin and fentanyl mixture as well as crack cocaine packaged for street sale, police say. Due to the drugs found with him, police recommended an additional two charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was remanded in custody for future court appearances.

A couple days later on July 13, a 34-year-old Vernon man was arrested on two warrants, one for a count of drug trafficking from May and one for two counts of drug trafficking in June. He was also remanded in custody for future court appearances.

On July 17, a 38-year-old Vernon man was arrested on a warrant for one count of drug trafficking from April. The man was remanded in custody for future court appearances.

"These three arrests are a great example of the Vernon RCMP’s commitment to target drug trafficking at all levels. By targeting street level drug dealers, and removing the illicit drugs they are selling from our community we are directly making Vernon safer,” Cpl. Dan Pollock, of the Vernon RCMP’s Targeted Policing Unit says in the release.
