Vernon RCMP investigating after body found on residential street

Vernon RCMP is investigating after a body was found on a residential street.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, the death is being treated as suspicious and police have closed the road in the Mission Hill neighbourhood.

Police say they were notified about the deceased person 6:45 a.m. today, Feb. 28, after someone found the body on the road in the 4100 block of 15 Avenue.

"Based on findings from the preliminary investigation, there is nothing to suggest there is any known risk to the public," the release says.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.

The RCMP say no other information is being released at this time.
