The City of Vernon is reminding property owners that property taxes are due on July 4.

Late payment of taxes will result in a 10 per cent penalty. In the event of a Canada Post strike or lockout, property owners are also responsible for ensuring payment is received by the due date. Postmarks are not accepted as payment date.

Payments can be made:

in person at City Hall;
at the drop box located at the main front entrance doors at City Hall;
online services through your financial institution (Please allow 4-5 business days for the city to receive your payment); or
by post-dated cheque presented in person or through the drop box.

In addition, property owners claiming the homeowner grant, if eligible, must apply prior to July 4. Homeowner grants can be claimed online.
