VERNON - Police believe they got the man responsible for a string of armed robberies in the area after his latest robbery attempt was 'unsuccessful.'

At roughly 3:20 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 12, police were called to a panic alarm at a local convenience store on 32 Ave and Alexis Park Drive, says Vernon RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Kelly Brett in a release.

She says the man was being held in a vehicle by the store owner.

"It is alleged the suspect male attempted to rob the local convenience store, however was unsuccessful," Brett says.

The 32-year-old man was arrested without incident and remains under investigation.

Just yesterday, police asked for help in locating a suspect or suspects in as many as five robberies in the area.
