The Okanagan Military Tattoo has been cancelled for 2020 for the first time in its history.

Since 2013, the tattoo has been "honouring the Canadian military, first responders and showcasing local talent since 2013 never missing a beat, but sometimes, the show cannot go on," according to a statement released on the tattoo's website.

"Although it may seem premature to cancel at this time, a show as large and complex as ours requires plenty of lead time for planning and execution. Given the current unprecedented global situation and uncertainties that surround us, it is in the best interests of the tattoo and our community to cancel the 2020 production."

This year would have been its seventh production.

The 2021 tattoo dates have been scheduled for July 24-25. All tickets purchased for the 2020 show will be refunded but ticket purchasers can use the refund to purchase tickets for the 2021 production, according to the website. Complimentary or promotional ticket vouchers can also be used in 2021.
