Vernon makes changes to tree programs

The City of Vernon has renewed its Neighbourhood Tree Planting Program for 2017 and 2018.

The program, which offers residents a $20 voucher to be redeemed at Swan Lake Nurseryland for the purchase of a tree, encourages Vernon residents to plant trees in their yards.

These trees contribute to better air and stormwater quality, reduce energy needs and make Vernon more beautiful.

Vouchers for the Neighbourhood Tree Planning Program will be available in Spring 2017.

The Residential Boulevard Tree Program, where residents could request that a tree be planted in the boulevard in front of their home by the City for a fee of $50, is discontinued due to low participation.
