With restrictions advising against all non-essential travel to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in place in British Columbia, this weekend might not be the the most advantageous time to lay claim to having the cheapest gas in the province.

However, that is indeed the case for Vernon today, April 22, as Vernon Super Save at 4415 27 Street and the Petro-Canada gas station at 4301 25 Avenue in Vernon are selling a litre of regular fuel for 119.9 cents, according to Gasbuddy.com.

That’s a penny less than the province’s next cheapest fuel, which is being sold at the Safeway gas bar in Fort St. John for 120.9 cents a litre.

Around the region, prices appear to be moving downward, albeit very slowly.

Kamloops is reporting fuel prices of between 134.9 and 139.9 cents a litre today, compared to prices as high as 140.9 cents a litre yesterday.

Kelowna’s prices range from 136.9 to 139.9 cents per litre today, compared to 137.9 to 139.9 cents per litre yesterday.

Penticton’s prices are static, ranging from 138.9 to 140.9 cents per litre yesterday and today.

If you’re travelling to or from the coast, Merritt’s prices are up from yesterday at 139.9 cents per litre across the board. Yesterday, at least one station was selling a litre of gas for 128.9 cents.
