VERNON - With nine days to go until Christmas, Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation’s Light a Bulb Campaign has reached $208,505 towards its $250,000 goal.

“It’s only because of our generous and caring community that we have raised these funds in such a short time,” said Campaign Chair Kevin Arbuckle.  “We still have nearly $42,000 to raise in just over a week.  I am confident we can do it.”

Funds raised from Light a Bulb will purchase high definition camera heads and the control system that operates them.  The new equipment will enable VJH surgeons to perform keyhole surgeries on patients requiring general surgery, orthopedics, ENT and gynecology.  The benefits of this technology include faster healing due to smaller incisions, less pain and less chance of infection.

Some of the generous donors contributing to Light a Bulb include Grizzly Curb & Concrete Ltd, Trinity Creek Ranch, Kineshanko Logging Ltd and the Armstrong Regional Cooperative.

To help the Foundation light the hospital tree, you can make a secure donation online at vjhfoundation.org, call 250-558-1362 or mail your cheque attention VJH Foundation, 2101-32nd Street, Vernon BC V1T 5L2.
