Vernon and iNFOnews.ca are lighting up downtown

VERNON - This weekend, the holiday season is arriving in Vernon’s downtown core.

The 24th Annual Light Up is taking place on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to a media release issued today, Nov. 21, from the Downtown Vernon Association.

There will be over 60 vendors along the 2900-3400 blocks of 30th Avenue and the 3400 block of Coldstream Avenue. The event is perfect for all ages with family-friendly activities, crafts and food trucks.

“We’ve got live entertainment, visits with Santa, food trucks, a bonfire, crafts, ornament decorating, a hockey shoot out to name a few,” says Dudley Coulter, Events and Promotions Coordinator with the Downtown Vernon Association.

The main stage is located along 30th Ave. near the official tree which was planted five years ago for this purpose but it wasn't tall enough to be crowned as the community’s official holiday tree, until now.

INFOnews.ca is a sponsor of the Downtown Vernon Light Up and is sponsoring Santa Claus and will be at the iNFOnews.ca tent chatting with community members and handing out balloons to kids from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Due to the event, roads from 2900 through 3300 blocks of 30th Ave, a portion of the 3400 block of Coldstream Ave and a portion of the 2800 block of 35th St will be closed to vehicle traffic from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m.
