Vernon fire crews extinguished an RV trailer fire this morning in the north end of the city.

Vernon firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire at around 11:50 a.m. today, Nov. 3, and found the trailer still attached to a truck, according to a City of Vernon media release.

The trailer was burning in the 5100 block of Anderson Way and when fire crews arrived on the scene the trailer was trailer fully involved in flames.

"The crew was able to contain and extinguish the fire very quickly, preventing it from spreading to the truck," Vernon Fire Service deputy fire Chief Alan Hofsink said in the release.

"Thankfully the truck and trailer were parked away from any structures, which minimized risk to nearby businesses. The interior of the enclosed trailer has been significantly damaged from fire and smoke."

The cause of the trailer fire is not yet known and an investigation is underway.

No injuries were reported.
