VERNON - Crews are working to mop-up following a house fire in Vernon this afternoon that threatened to spread to a neighbouring home.
The fire, in the 1400 block of 35 Avenue across from Silver Star Elementary School, gutted one of the homes this afternoon, Sept. 26.
Vernon Fire Rescue Services asked the public to stay away from the area as fire crews worked to extinguish the flames.
Photos posted to social media showed black smoke billowing from the blaze.
