A Vernon family was on their way home from Kelowna when they made a pit stop after noticing a beautiful scene along Wood Lake.

Matthew Royal and his daughters noticed how “cool” the ice looked, and decided to pull over in Lake Country as they drove back from a shopping trip Feb. 15.

“It was really cold and really windy,” he said. The family also found another couple taking photos of the same thing.

He enjoys capturing the “little random moments,” he said. “We stopped for about 40 minutes and scrambled along the lakeshore, taking a bunch of photos.”

Daytime temperatures around the Thompson Okanagan are expected to remain above 0 C throughout the week, so lake ice will continue to melt.
