A continuing investigating into drug related activities in Vernon has yielded additional arrests and drug seizures by RCMP.

Members of the Vernon RCMP Targeted Policing Unit arrested a 44-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man on Jan. 22 for their suspected involvement in a dial-a-dope drug dealing operation, according to an RCMP media release.

Those arrests led to seizure of several small packages of cocaine and other drug trafficking items. The two arrested individuals were later released .

A continuing investigation into the drug trafficking group resulted in the April 28 execution of a search warrant on a 4600 block residence of 20 Street in Vernon.

Three people in the residence were arrested as a result of the search, including a 24-year-old man, a 27-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman. The search also resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. Money and other items related to drug trafficking was also seized.

"Targeting beyond the street level dealer is an important step toward impacting drug trafficking groups and contributing to the Vernon RCMP priority of enhancing public safety," Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Targeted Policing Unit Sgt. David Evans said in the release.

The three arrested individuals have since been released, RCMP said. After the investigation concludes, police will forward the results to the prosecution service for charge assessments.
