Vernon driver killed in car crash

VERNON - A crash on Highway 97 in Vernon claimed the life of a local man.

Vernon RCMP say the accident happened Wednesday night, Jan. 20, when the driver of a white 1999 Ford F-150 travelling northbound on 32 Street went off the road and into the righthand ditch, striking a barracade and a pole. The driver and sole occupant was critically injured. Police aren’t releasing his name, but say he was 24 years old and from the Vernon area.

Police aren’t commenting on whether speed, alcohol or weather was a factor. They are continuing to investigate.

The accident occurred on Highway 97 (32 Street) just south of 48 Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Jan. 20.
