PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are asking residents to report suspicious activity around vehicles following several reports of gas theft taking place over the past couple of weeks.
Police spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says the Penticton detachment responded to four separate instances of vehicle tanks having holes drilled in them for the suspected purpose of stealing gasoline.
Moskaluk says several more reports have been received over the past two weeks.
Thieves are drilling into the tank, emptying the contents and installing a spigot or screw that allows them to return to the tank and drain it again once it is refilled.
Anyone observing such activity, or seeing suspicious activity around vehicles, are asked to call Penticton RCMP at: 250-492-4300.
