Vehicle fire at Kelowna residence

KELOWNA - A vehicle in Kelowna ignited while parked inside the owner's garage yesterday morning.

At approximately 11:40 a.m. the Kelowna Fire Department Dispatch Center received a call reporting a vehicle on fire in a garage in the 1200 Block of Thompon Road, a media release says.

The owner of the vehicle had made an attempt to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful.

The first arriving officer reported visible flame and smoke coming from the engine compartment of a pick up truck. The vehicle was parked in an attatched garage.

The blaze was quickly extinguished without spreading to the home. The home owner was assessed for smoke inhalation by first responders and paramedics.

Crews believe the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.

Kelowna Fire Department responded with nine personnel two engines and a command vehicle.
