A vehicle crashed into the front window of a Bulk Barn in West Kelowna late this morning.

The elderly driver of the vehicle was the only occupant, and they were not harmed in the collision at 3610 Carrington Road.

"They missed all the structural support pillars so it was strictly through the window," West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund said.

The West Kelowna Fire Department and RCMP officers attended the scene.

The car went about one third of the way into the store, he said, but there was no significant structural damage other than the broken window and damaged merchandise.

The Fire Department and RCMP attended and have since cleared the scene.

“It’s extremely fortunate that no one was injured as a result of this collision,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in an RCMP release.

“Staff were working in the building but were not struck. They were able to assist the elderly female driver until emergency crews arrived.”

Brolund said the cause of the incident was driver's error.
