PENTICTON - Police are trying to locate the vandals who caused $10,000 damage to Uplands Elementary School overnight June 28.
A new roof was being put on the school and work materials were available to the vandals who poured tar they found onto the side of the building and several windows. The money to clear this up comes out of the school systems budget which in the public system is stretched to the limit. As a result, some programs and school functions may have to be cancelled this year.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or www.sostips.ca. The anonymous tip might leading to an arrest might result in a cash reward of up to $2,000.
