One victim still critical, two more out of care, after Vancouver stabbing melee

.

VANCOUVER - Major crimes investigators remained at a Vancouver apartment building through the night, trying to determine why a man ran through the hallways Thursday evening, randomly slashing residents.

Seven people were injured on several floors of the West End highrise and Sgt. Randy Fincham says one of those victims, a woman, remains in critical condition.

Of the six treated in hospital, Fincham says the woman and three other people are still receiving care, while two victims were released overnight.

Another person and a police officer who was injured while arresting the 33-year-old suspect, were treated at the scene and will be alright.

Fincham says the suspect remains in custody and more information about him will be released as soon as it's available.

Officers don't believe the man lived in the building and they say the vicious attack appears entirely random because there are no apparent links between the man and any of his victims.
