The Kelowna RCMP has come into possession of valuable piece of artwork.

A staffer at the Kelowna General Hospital found a painting in hospital parking lot that appeared to be abandoned, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Feb. 24.

The responding officer secured the artwork and police are hoping to find its rightful owner. It’s a high-quality, original painting, RCMP said.

The painting is signed by Nicole Young.

"The artist Nicole Young has commissioned pieces, however, with limited information, police cannot value this painting correctly," the release reads.

Police aren't sure if the painting was stolen or left there by mistake. Surveillance footage from the hospital was not able to advance the investigation.

“The RCMP want to return the painting to its rightful owner and are asking the public for its help,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release.

Anybody with information related to the investigation can call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file 2023-10282.
