CNN president Zucker hits back hard at Roger Ailes' criticism, says Fox News runs GOP

The chiefs of CNN and Fox News Channel are throwing shots at each other, each suggesting the other's network is essentially out of the news business. "We happen to be in the business, as opposed to some other fair and balanced network," Zucker responded to a Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes remark at a news conference on Friday Jan. 10, 2014. PASADENA, Calif. - CNN president Jeff Zucker says the Republican Party is being run from the headquarters of Fox News Channel.

Zucker's comments to reporters on Friday came in response to an interview Fox News Channel CEO Roger Ailes gave earlier this week where he suggested that CNN had thrown in the towel on the news business.

Zucker said Ailes' criticism was silly and meant to deflect attention from an upcoming book on Fox News and its boss by New York magazine writer Gabriel Sherman. He said no other network covers news as substantively and seriously as CNN.
