MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Latest on the case of a New Hampshire man accused of shooting two police officers (all times local):

4 p.m.

Court records show the man accused of shooting two New Hampshire police officers agreed to go through court-approved mental health counselling in 2012 after he was charged with assaulting his father.

Records show MacPherson faced criminal charges for kicking and punching his father. MacPherson's father, Russell, told police at the time that Ian was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was having "an episode" during the attack.

Records show MacPherson's sentence was suspended when he agreed to go through counselling.

A police affidavit released Monday shows MacPherson went through a background check before purchasing the gun he allegedly used to shoot the two officers.

The father of a man accused of shooting two New Hampshire police officers says his son has been suffering from mental illness for a long time.

Russell MacPherson spoke to reporters Monday shortly after a court hearing for 32-year-old Ian MacPherson in Manchester. He said the family will do everything they can to support him.

Ian MacPherson's lawyer entered not guilty pleas to two charges of attempted capital murder. MacPherson didn't enter the courtroom, which was filled with officers, including the two who were shot.

Police say MacPherson shot officers Ryan Hardy and Matthew O'Connor minutes apart Friday. O'Connor was shot in the leg and was on crutches Monday. Hardy was shot in the face and torso and had bandages on his face and on the back of his neck.

Ian MacPherson's lawyer entered the pleas for him Monday in Manchester. MacPherson didn't enter the courtroom, which was filled with police officers, including the two who were shot.

Police say MacPherson shot officers Ryan Hardy and Matthew O'Connor minutes apart Friday. O'Connor was shot in the leg and was on crutches Monday. Hardy was shot in the face and torso and had bandages on his face and on the back of his neck.

MacPherson is being held without bail. He wasn't injured in the chase.

A hearing has been scheduled for May 27.

Police say MacPherson shot 27-year-old Officer Ryan Hardy and 28-year-old Officer Matthew O'Connor minutes apart on Friday. O'Connor was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and was released from the hospital that same day. Hardy was shot in the face and torso and was released on Saturday.

MacPherson is being held without bail on two counts of attempted capital murder. He wasn't injured in the chase.
