Oscar nominee Baumbach to be honoured at Nantucket festival

NANTUCKET, Mass. - Oscar-nominated writer and director Noah Baumbach is being honoured at the Nantucket Film Festival in June.

Organizers said Tuesday that actor Ben Stiller will present "The Squid and the Whale" creator with the festival's annual Screenwriters Tribute Award.

Baumbach most recently wrote and directed "The Meyerowitz Stories," which was screened at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Previous recipients of the Nantucket award include Tom McCarthy, Oliver Stone, David O. Russell, Judd Apatow, Aaron Sorkin, Nancy Meyers and Steve Martin.

The June 20-25 festival also is honouring Oscar- and Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville with a special achievement award and Sundance Film Festival winner Andrew Heckler with an award recognizing new screenwriting voices.

Neville won the Oscar for best documentary feature for 2013's "20 Feet from Stardom," about backup singers.
