SANTA ANA, Calif. - Federal authorities have arrested a 19-year-old man suspected of hacking into a webcam at the California home of the newly crowned Miss Teen USA in an attempt to extort nude photographs.
FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller says Jared James Abrahams of Temecula surrendered to agents at the FBI office in Orange County Thursday.
He's scheduled to be in federal court in Santa Ana at 2 p.m.
Cassidy Wolf, a 19-year-old Temecula resident, won the Miss Teen USA crown last month.
Wolf told the website of NBC's "Today" show that she received an anonymous email in which the sender claimed to have stolen images from the camera on her home computer.
The emailer threatened to go public with images captured from Wolf's webcam unless she would provide nude pictures of herself.
