FORT WORTH, Texas - A group of journalists gathered in Fort Worth to recall covering President John F. Kennedy's fateful trip to Texas in 1963.

The program "Fort Worth Remembers JFK" took place on the Texas Christian University campus Wednesday evening. It also featured actor/director Bill Paxton, who as an 8-year-old boy heard the president speak outside the Hotel Texas in Fort Worth.

Paxton recalled there was "a real electricity" in the "jubilant" crowd that rainy morning in Fort Worth, where Kennedy spent his last night before proceeding to Dallas the morning of Nov. 22, 1963.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination in downtown Dallas.

During the panel discussion hosted by CBS newsman Bob Schieffer, journalist Hugh Aynesworth recalled the chaos in downtown Dallas after shots rang out.
