Police: Deena of 'Jersey Shore' charged with disorderly conduct for dancing in NJ street

FILE - This April 1, 2012 file photo shows Deena Nicole Cortese, a cast member on the MTV reality series "Jersey Shore" posing for photographers during the MIPTV, International Television Programme Market, in Cannes, southern France. Seaside Heights New Jersey Police Chief Tommy Boyd tells WNBC TV in New York that Deena Cortese was arrested Sunday, June 10, on a disorderly conduct charge. Boyd says a borough officer saw Cortese "a little intoxicated" and standing in the middle of a street, slapping cars that were driving by. SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. - Police are releasing details about the arrest of "Jersey Shore" cast member Deena Cortese in the town where the MTV show is based.

The 25-year-old Cortese, of New Egypt, was arrested for disorderly conduct on Sunday afternoon in Seaside Heights.

Detective Steve Korman says Cortese and other cast members were in a Mexican restaurant before Cortese went into the roadway and began dancing and impeding traffic.

Korman says an officer saw Cortese and said she appeared to be intoxicated. She was taken to police headquarters, processed and released to her mother.

Cortese could face a fine up to $500 and up to 30 days in jail.

An MTV spokesman declined to comment on the series because it is currently in production. An airdate for the sixth season hasn't been announced.
