DENVER - A Colorado father killed in last week's theatre shooting rampage will be the first to be laid to rest.

A funeral service for 51-year-old Gordon Cowden was planned for Wednesday. He had gone to Friday's midnight showing of the new Batman movie with his two teenage children,

Cowden was the oldest of the 12 people killed. His children escaped unharmed.

Later this week, families of other victims plan to say their goodbyes.

Also Wednesday, residents of the apartment building where suspect James Holmes lived are waiting to see if they could return home. The building was cleared because police said Holmes had booby-trapped his apartment with a trip wire, explosives and unknown liquids.
