NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Academy of American Poets has chosen Arizona's poet laureate and a prominent translator as the latest members of its board of chancellors.

Arizona poet laureate Alberto Rios and prize-winning poet-translator Khaled Mattawa ('MATT-eh-wah) have been elected to serve 6-year terms on the academy's 15-member board. Previous chancellors include W.H. Auden, Marianne Moore and John Ashbery.

Founded 80 years ago, the academy is a non-profit organization that publishes a biannual literary journal and sponsors numerous readings and other events.
