NEW YORK, N.Y. - Even if you never read the book, you will surely remember the title of Hilary Mantel's upcoming story collection: "The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher."
Mantel is a winner of the Man Booker Prize for her historical novels, "Wolf Hall" and "Bring Up the Bodies," and is known for her sharp views on current events.
She takes on contemporary England in her new book, whose title alludes to the combative former prime minister who died last year.
Henry Holt and Company, her U.S. publisher, announced Thursday the book will be out in September. The company provided no other details on the stories.
Mantel's other works include "Giving Up the Ghost" and "Beyond Black."
In 2004, Nicholson Baker's novel "Checkpoint" featured a character who fantasizes about killing then-President George W. Bush.
