2 Banksy works vandalized in Utah resort town that hosts Sundance; paintings appeared in 2010

PARK CITY, Utah - Vandals in the Utah city that hosts the Sundance Film Festival have targeted two works there by famous graffiti artist Banksy.

Police in Park City responded to reports of the damage the morning of New Year's Eve.

Vandals had shattered the glass covering a painting on garage steps just off historic Main Street, then sprayed over the image of an angel with black or brown paint.

Another Banksy image on the side of the Java Cow building escaped the paint. But vandals cracked the glass covering the work, which depicts a person shooting video of a flower.

The pieces appeared when Banksy came to Park City for the famous film festival in 2010.

The mysterious British street artist is known for his silhouetted figures and spray-painted messages.
